The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to Kareena Kapoor on 21st September, 2009. She had been the number star of bollywood films and carried forward the grand legacy created by Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor forward.

She started her career with the film Refugee with Abhishek Bacchan. In that film she played the role of a pardanashin muslim girl of Pakistan. Within short time she adapted herself to different types of roles in films like Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai opposite Tushar Kapoor, Yaadein opposite Hrithik Roshan, Ashoka opposite Shahrukh Khan, to name a few.

After two three years her films started flopping, and she bounced back with an off-beat role in the film Chameli. She received the critics award for the best actress in filmfare. She received the filmfare award for the best actress for her effortless performance in the film Jab We Met. At the same time her films opposite other stars were appreciated. She was successful opposite Salman Khan in the film Kyon Ki. She was sublime opposite Ajay Devgan in the film Omkara and Golmaal Returns.

In 2009, her film Kambakht Ishq opposite Akshay Kumar did medium business. But she has two mega releases for which the viewers are awaiting anxiously. One is Mai and Mrs Khanna opposite Salman Khan. Before coming to her prospect in 2009, her successful films require mention. After making her debut in JP Dutta’ s film Refugee, she rocked box-office with the film Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai in 2001. It was the beginning of Tushar Kapoor also. Her films Yaadein opposite Hrithik Roshan and Ajnabee opposite Bobby Deol did average business. The only success at that time was the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham opposite Hrithik Roshan. Her performance in the role of princess Kaurwaki in the film Ashoka opposite Shahrukh Khan got severely criticized and her popularity decreased at that time.

Even her films Mai Prem Ki Diwani Hoon or Mujhse Dosti Karoge could not change her fortunes. At that period her performance in an off-beat role in the film Chameli brought her appreciation from the critics. She played the role of a prostitude in Sudhir Misra’s realistic film. She got the Filmfare Special award for her performance in the film Chameli. She did a series of good films at that including Govind Nihalini’s Dev. She opposite Fardeen Khan, Big B and Om Puri and brought out frustration in a riot oriented locality. She played the role of muslim girl Ayaliya having similarity with Zahira Sheikh, the main witness in Vadodara’s Best Bakery Case. She also acted in an unconventional role in the film Omkara opposite Ajay Devgan.

She acted in a number of hit films including Hulchul opposite Akshay Khanna, Kyon Ki opposite Salman Khan, Aitraaz opposite Akshay Kumar. With success opposite Shahid Kapoor in films like Chup Chup Ke, 36 China Town she gave the best performance of her life in the film Jab We Met. She received the filmfare award for the best actress in the film.

But from the time spend time with Saif Ali Khan again career lost direction. Her film Tashan opposite him was box-office disaster. Her other film Golmaal Returns did moderate business but that was due to joint effort of Ajay Devgan, Tushar Kapoor and others.

In 2009 her films that are either released or about to be released include Kambakkht Ishq opposite Akshay Kumar, Three Idiots opposite Amir Khan, Mai Aur Mrs. Khanna opposite Salman Khan and Milenge Milenge. Kambakkht Ishq had been shot in Universal Studios, Hollywood and has a huge prospect.

None of Amir Khan’s films had failed in the last three years, so Kareena has a lot of hope in Three Idiots. Even Salman Khan is wanting to make a comeback with hit films through Mai and Mrs Khanna. If two of these three films become successful, Kareena can get back her number one spot which she lost in 2008 and her competitors like Priyanka Chopra gained in 2008. Critics had said several times that Kareena Kapoor has much more acting talent than Katrina Kaif, if she chooses right films and does well, she can still be in the rat race. Let us hope for the best in 2009.

Vishal Bharadwaj had addressed the viewers of bollywood films with his new film Kaminey after some time. It is based on the story of two twin brothers who hate each other.

Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra had been cast in the lead roles in the film. Shahid Kapoor played the double roles of Guddu and Charlie. Guddu started his life from the famous slum in Mumbai called Dharavi, but joined a NGO firm. He was honest, generous and hardworking. He had the ambition of crossing the different levels and reaching higher summits in the corporate world.

On the other hand Charlie was involved in betting in the race course. He wanted to climb the ladder of success with a short-cut route. His ambition was to be a legitimate bookie and get recognition. He had the skills for the job and did well.

Both the brothers had defects in their speech. Guddu stammered whenever he was nervous. Charlie also had other kinds of communication problems. Both the brothers hated each other. On one day, Charlie faced a problem with his rival bookies and also was chased by cops.

While Guddu was involved in street play his girlfriend Sweety Bhope came and said that she became pregnant. When he wanted to marry her, he found there was new problem. Her brothers were dons, and chased him for the unfortunate happenings.

It was at that part of the film where the two brothers who hated each other came closer. The performance of Shahid Kapoor in double role was very impressive. Priyanka Chopra was full of energy as usual.

Vishal Bharadwaj’s story and direction has the elements of success. The music also has been given by Vishal Bharadwaj, which was equally impressive. The lyrics are written by Gulzar.

In a nutshell it can be said that the film will be a hit film and viewers should go to the halls and watch the film.

The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to Shahid Kapoor, the successful romantic star on 25th February, 2009. He had acted in very successful films in the recent past, but for some reason or the other did not get the acknowledgement he deserved.

His performance in the film Jab We Met almost pulled the film across the country. His decency and composure in the film was worth mentioning. Yet when the question of recognition did arise the entire credit was taken up by Kareena Kapoor. She received the filmfare award for the best actress for her performance in the film. Even Pritam who composed melodious songs in the film was unrewarded.

Shahid Kapoor’s other successful films included Chup Chup Ke. For most part of the film he pretended to be a deaf and dumb person. He worked with Rajpal Yadav in the house of Om Puri and got associated with Kareena Kapoor. Later in the film his identity was disclosed. His performance in that film was also extraordinary.

The other successful films of Shahid Kapoor include Kismat Connection with Vidya Balan, 36 China Town with Kareena Kapoor, to name a few. In 36 China Town, Shahid Kapoor along with Kareena Kapoor were suspected for murdering a woman in the house. The investigation was carried out by Akshay Khanna and later the servants of the house were found as the actual murderers. The film was serio-comic in nature with Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever also contributing in respective roles.

Shahid Kapoor had outstanding dancing skills. He exhibited it in films like Jab We Met, 36 China Town, etc. With serious competition in the bollywood industry Shahid Kapoor badly needs a big hit in the future to maintain his stardom.

He had established himself as a romantic actor. He has to contribute well in action films, political films and other types of films in future.

Besides he had been associated with Kareena Kapoor all along his career. He has to create a combination with other actresses in the bollywood industry as well to show his versatility. He has a bright future in bollywood industry.
