The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to Govinda on 21st December, 2009. For the last 20 years he had entertained bollywood viewers with his remote style of comedy performance and dancing.

Govinda came to limelight with his impressive performance in the film Ankhen along with Chunkey Pandey. Both Govinda and Chunkey were thrown out of their homes by their father Kader Khan, due to their mischievous acts. They witnessed the kidnapping of the CM played by Raj Babbar. In his place another person was brought who had similarity in looks. Govinda and Chunkey saved the CM and killed the imposter.

Govinda had a brilliant relationship with director David Dhawan. David Dhawan had used Govinda in most of his comedy films, and the dance performance and comedy performance of Govinda charmed the audience. His film Hero No. 1 with Karishma Kapoor became super hit. In 2009, Govinda’s films Life Partner, and Do Not Disturb with Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta, did mediocre business. But he has the potentiality to make a comeback in 2010, and the viewers expect another cameo in the sequel of Partner. Viewers expect that with his busy work as a politician, as he was an MP elected with a Congress Ticket, he can still devote time for films and continue the work of entertainment in the years to come.

She was very successful in the film Barsaat opposite Bobby Deol. Bobby Deol started his career with that film and it was produced by Dharmender. The music was impressive. Twinkle Khanna expressed her romantic feelings very well in the film. With the success of the film in the early 90s, Twinkle Khanna became a readymade choice for any type of film.

She acted with Shahrukh Khan in the film Badshah. Just like other films of Shahrukh Khan the film was based on fantasy and funny acts. Twinkle Khanna played her part very well in the film. All the songs of the film were super hit including “o jana”, “is dil me kya hai”, “pehli pehli baar”, etc. In the film the love of Salman Khan for her reformed Salman Khan’s character, who was a playboy before that. Wanted was the remake of the 2006 Telegu film Pokiri. It was directed by Prabhudeva, and was very successful back in South India. The hindi version had also been directed by Prabhu Deva. Boney Kapoor had been the producer of the film. In the hindi version, Salman Khan had been projected as a fearless person, who had worked under the mafia don Prakash Raj. His ruthlessness changed altogether when he met Ayesha Takia.

Salman Khan’s affair with Ayesha Takia completely changed his personality. Previously he was shown as an ill-tempered person who had used his ammunition whenever he had slightest disputes. He became more reasonable after spending time with Ayesha Takia.

Ayesha Takia tried her best to take away Salman Khan from the underworld. A time came when she faced Prakash Raj and spoke with him. She neither supported him nor agreed to his deals. Even she declined to work for him.

The rest of the film was related to the consequences of the refusal of Ayesha Takia to work for the mafia don. After a long time Salman Khan had acted in an action film. His previous films like Veergati, Auzaar, etc. were different from the present film.

Ayesha Takia was very impressive in her individual role. Other performers also did well in the film. There was concern that very few action films had done good business in the last 3 years. In that respect it was very risky on the part of Salman Khan to sign an action film. Even then the film had the elements of entertainment and was well received by the audience. Vinod Khanna did well in a small role. The success of Wanted and London Dreams revived the stardom of Salman Khan who was considered to have equal box-office like that of Shahrukh Khan few years back.

Although he had mixed results in respect of success of his films released in 2009 and 2008, his popularity and box-office had remained intact.

He created an impression before the viewers with his romantic film Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989. After that he had acted in every type of film including comedy films, action films etc. His musical blockbusters include Khamoshi with Manisha Koirala, Andaz Apna Apna with Amir Khan, Karishma Kapoor and Ravina Tandon, Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai opposite Twinkle Khanna, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega opposite Preeti Zinta, to name a few.

Director Vipul Shah did a great experiment with Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan and Asin in the film London Dreams. There had been inspiration from Peter Shaffer’s play Amadeus based on the lives of composers Mozart and Antonio Salieri.

Both Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan were friends in this film. They inherited musical genes from their ancestors. Music was there in their earlier generations. Ajay Devgan wanted to be a stage performer and fulfill the wishes of his grandfather which was unfulfilled. Salman Khan never took musical lessons of his father seriously. He wanted to be a person with a large heart.

Ajay Devgan created a band in London with Rannvijay Singh an Aditya Roy Kapoor. Ajay Devgan also brought Asin from a conservative South Indian family to London as she was very much fond of music. Salman Khan at that point of time only performed in marriages as singer.

Salman Khan was also brought to London to form his own band. Salman’s band became more popular than Ajay Devgan’s band. One of the reasons was due to Salman Khan’s capability of attracting the attention of the audience by his mannerisms. Ajay Devgan started envying Salman Khan as both of them loved Asin, and Asin developed attraction towards Salman Khan.

Ajay Devgan persuaded Salman Khan to get addicted to drugs and got him arrested. He also gave the information to media so that Salman Khan could be humiliated. When the opportunity was there to perform in Wembly Stadium, Ajay Devgan gave drugs to Salman Khan so that he failed to perform over there. She had impressed the viewers with the film Mai Hoon Na opposite Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh Khan came to find his own brother in an educational institution after a long time. Shahrukh Khan fell in love with Sushmita Sen in the film. The online chemistry appealed to the masses. Both of them gave able lips in the song “mai hoon na”. Zaid Khan, Amrita Rao and Sunil Shetty also did very well in the film.

Her screen presence in traditional Rajasthani dress flabbergasted the viewers. She gave elegant lips in the songs “nimura nimura” and “dhol baaje”.

She gave the best performance of her life in the film Taal. Her softness in the film opposite Ashay Khanna and Anil Kapoor charmed the viewers. AR Rehman’s music in the film was sensational. All the songs in the film became super hit including “ishq bina kya jina”, “rabba jogi”, etc. Ash in that period was at the top of her career.

She also did well opposite Anil Kapoor in the film Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai. In that film she was raped by Puru Raj Kumar and was given shelter by Anil Kapoor. Although Blue and All the best got a fantastic opening, Mai Aur Mrs Khanna lagged behind. Director Prem Soni had used Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in a love story titled Mai Aur Mrs Khanna. Salman Khan married Kareena Kapoor against the wishes of his parents and settled in Melbourne, Australia. There he had a successful career of a stock-broker. The moment he lost the job, the internal differences between the couple played by Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor had forced Kareena Kapoor to stay with Sohail Khan.

Salman Khan’s friend Govinda tried to patch up the things so that the marital relationship could be restored. The film had been produced by Ronnie Screwala and Sohail Khan. Kareena Kapoor’s visa expired in Australia before she was working in a watch shop. Due to insistence from her friends she married Sohail Khan.

In the mean time Deepika Padukone also entered the scene and made the play more dramatic. Inspite of good performances from Kareena Kapoor, Salman Khan and Sohail Khan the film did not have a good opening. Some way or the other the luck is not going in Salman Khan’s favour. Although his TV program “10 ka dum” had been extremely successful most of his films including Wanted are doing mediocre business. He has one last film this year titled New York to prove his stardom. But the film Mai Aur Mrs Khanna should be watched by viewers considering the cameos played by even guest artists like Preeti Zinta and seasoned performances from Kareena Kapoor, Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and others.

Katrina Kaif was absolutely successful in the film Singh is Kingg. The song that was picturised on Katrina Kaif namely “teri ore teri ore” sung by Shreya Ghoshal received most of the awards of last year. Katrina Kaif complimented Akshay Kumar in the film.

Even in 2009, Katrina Kaif has big releases like Blue and Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani. In both these films other stars are acting along with Katrina Kaif, but the beauty of Katrina Kaif will be a big asset of the film.

Films like God Tussi Great Ho has very strong message embedded in them. The director Rumy Jaffery came up with a very innovative subject. Salman Khan had been shown as a hardworking person whose efforts go in vain due to mistakes of other persons. Where as his friend Priyanka Chopra’s efforts, get rewarded.

Salman Khan had spoke to God played by Big B, and said that the prayers of the common man never reach him. He said that Salman Khan had been scope of playing the role of God for few days. He used his powers to make Sohail Khan, his competitor speak rubbish before the lie detector when a corrupted minister was interviewed by Sohail Khan.

But Salman Khan never understood that if he fulfilled the wishes of every human being on earth it could lead to chaos. He fulfilled the dreams of prisoners to escape from jail, he fulfilled the dream of beggar to behave like dog, he fulfilled the dream of Sohail Khan to marry Priyanka Chopra, he fulfilled the dream of Rajpal Yadav to marry his sister.

Due to Salman Khan’s mistakes the entire earth became full of unrest. Salman Khan understood could only the limited wishes of men and women. God knew the right balance which could not be understood by human beings. So the mess that was created by Salman Khan was brought back to order by God.

The film gave the right the message, that unlimited desires cannot be fulfilled. Salman Khan’s serio-comic performance with Sohail Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Anupam Kher and others made people laugh. The songs in the film became successful as well like “tujhe aksa beech ghumadun”, to name a few. The music was composed by Sajid Wajid.

All the songs in the film became super hit including “just chill chill”, “laga laga laga”, “yeh larki lutke man mera le gayi”, etc. The exotic locations and the beauty of Katrina made the viewers mad. She even did better than Sushmita Sen and Isha Kopikaar who were much senior than her.



All her songs in the film Namaste London became super hit. The songs were composed by Himesh Reshamiya. The songs of the film Welcome opposite Ashay Kumar also became super hit. The hit songs included “welcome”, “hoont rasile”, “inshah allah”, to name a few.

The songs of Katrina’s film Race also became super hit. The hit songs included “zara zara kiss me”, “pehli nazar me aisa jadoo kar diya”, “race”, etc., all stormed the market in 2008. In the same film Katrina did outcast Bipasha Basu and Sameera Reddy with her brilliant performance.

Katrina’s songs in the film Yuvraaj became superhit inspite of the film doing mediocre business. The songs like “muskura”, “shanno shanno”, “tu mera dost hai” composed by AR Rehman were romantic, innovative and lovable. May be the film made by Subhash Ghai was too long and the audience lost their patience. Otherwise the songs were excellent.

Katrina’s songs in the film New York were equally impressive. The viewers expect similar type of melodious songs in Katrina’s new films to come and want her to give excellent lips in them. The viewers provide their best wishes to Katrina in the films Blue and other films to follow.

David Dhawan had experimented the most with successful actors Govinda and Salman Khan. Salman Khan featured in his film Biwi No. 1. In that film Salman Khan had a responsible wife Karishma Kapoor and also had an affair with Sushmita Sen. Anil Kapoor and Tabu leaked out the affair before Karishma Kapoor. It had led to unrest in the family. When Salman tried to live with Sushmita she failed to take care of his children and relatives. So the indispensability of Karishma Kapoor was felt. The music of Anu Malik was excellent. The songs “chunari chunari”, “ishq sona hai” became landmark hits in the 90s.

Govinda had featured in a number of films of David Dhawan. His comedy andaz had made the viewers spellbound. Govinda’s film Hero No. 1 was super hit. His combination with Karishma Kapoor was excellent. Govinda’s other film Cooli No. 1 was equally successful.

David Dhawan had success in the last year with the film Partner where both Salman Khan and Govinda featured. The film was based on the influence of a love-guru on the person had affair with a rich girl but never knew the art of impressing her. Govinda was attached to Katrina Kaif. Govinda was a middle-class person, so had to take lessons from Salman Khan to impress Katrina. Everything happened with comedy andaz. Salman Khan fell in love with Lara Dutta but had to accept her son before marrying her. The music of the film was extremely successful with songs like “do you want a partner”, “you are my love”, etc.

David Dhawan had released the tension of regular life of Indian viewers with his comedy films. The viewers expect him to continue the good work in the years to come.

The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to Arbaaz Khan on 4th August, 2009. He created a separate identity for himself inspite of being the younger brother of superstar Salman Khan.

Arbaaz Khan acted in different roles till date. He did a great job in the film Hulchul. He played the role of the elder brother of Akshay Khanna and the son of Amrish Puri.

In that film Amrish Puri did not allow his sons Paresh Rawal, Jackie Shroff and Arbaaz Khan to marry anyone and he had adverse feelings against women. But when Akshay Khanna entered into affair with Kareena Kapoor who belonged to the family which had hostile relation with Amrish Puri, he had to change his feelings. Arbaaz Khan’s loyalty to his father was well expressed in the film.

Arbaaz Khan played a significant role in Salman Khan’s film Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. After playing negative characters in many films he also acted in positive characters. He did a great job in the film Fashion. He was also sublime in the film Tumko Bhula Na Payenge, and also Hello Brother.

In action films also he had shown his dynamic performances. Even the films where he acted in guest roles he impressed the audience. For example in the film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, he along with Sohail Khan played a short role opposite Imran Khan. Their performance was well appreciated by the audience.

But these days whenever any actress crosses 30 years, or gets married the producers and directors discard them. So the period of success of the leading actresses are getting reduced day by day. Madhuri Dixit ruled bollywood films for more than ten years. But after her retirement, every year Indian celluloid saw a new reigning queen.

In 2009, Kareena’s film Kambakht Ishq did fantastic business. Kareena’s combination with Akhay Kumar entertained the viewers to a great extent. In the same year she is appearing opposite Amir Khan in film The Three Idiots and Salman Khan in the film Mr and Mrs. Khanna.

Kareena Kapoor started her career with a bang with films like Refugee and Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. Her beauty stole many hearts and always she was blessed with good stories and powerful direction. Her career got disturbed for two three years after start, but she came back with unconventional role in the film Chameli. From that time critics acknowledged Kareena’s acting capabilities. She got the filmfare award for her best performance in the film Jab We Met. She had a bad year in 2008, as her film Tashan failed miserably.

But 2009, she returned back in style with the film Kamakht Ishq with Akshay Kumar. She had acted with all the leading stars in bollywood including Salman Khan in Kyun Ki, Hrithik Roshan in Yaadein, Shahrukh Khan in Ashoka, Ajay Devgan in Omkara, to name a few. But her age is in the way, if she has to prove herself against Katrina Kaif who is much younger than her.

Even her comedy films like Partner and Welcome struck box-office. Even the films where she had played villanish roles, had been successful, like Race. She has the most attractive screen presence at the moment. Her success in the film New York had proved her acting capability also. It does not matter to her that she had not received filmfare awards and other awards at the moment.

The viewers agree if Kareena Kapoor has acting background, Katrina Kaif has her age in her favour, so in the long run, Katrina Kaif has the potentiality to be the winner. The war of the two beauty queens will continue as Kareena has Mr. and Mrs. Khanna opposite Salman Khan to be released this year, while Katrina Kaif has Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani opposite Ranbir Kapoor to be released this year. The other characteristic which is common between Katrina and Kareena is their affair with Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan. Both of them are involved for the last few years, yet none of them had declared their date of marriage.

The viewers wish that both Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor should give out their best in their struggle for number one spot.

Kareena Kapoor was at the top of the world with the success of her film Jab We Met in 2009. But after that year, most of her films did average business and her dominance in bollywood films diminished. Instead of her success in bollywood films her affair with Saif Ali Khan got amore attention.

Before coming to her prospect in 2009, her successful films require mention. After making her debut in JP Dutta’ s film Refugee, she rocked box-office with the film Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai in 2001. It was the beginning of Tushar Kapoor also. Her films Yaadein opposite Hrithik Roshan and Ajnabee opposite Bobby Deol did average business. The only success at that time was the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham opposite Hrithik Roshan. Her performance in the role of princess Kaurwaki in the film Ashoka opposite Shahrukh Khan got severely criticized and her popularity decreased at that time.

Even her films Mai Prem Ki Diwani Hoon or Mujhse Dosti Karoge could not change her fortunes. At that period her performance in an off-beat role in the film Chameli brought her appreciation from the critics. She played the role of a prostitude in Sudhir Misra’s realistic film. She got the Filmfare Special award for her performance in the film Chameli. She did a series of good films at that including Govind Nihalini’s Dev. She opposite Fardeen Khan, Big B and Om Puri and brought out frustration in a riot oriented locality. She played the role of muslim girl Ayaliya having similarity with Zahira Sheikh, the main witness in Vadodara’s Best Bakery Case. She also acted in an unconventional role in the film Omkara opposite Ajay Devgan.

She acted in a number of hit films including Hulchul opposite Akshay Khanna, Kyon Ki opposite Salman Khan, Aitraaz opposite Akshay Kumar. With success opposite Shahid Kapoor in films like Chup Chup Ke, 36 China Town she gave the best performance of her life in the film Jab We Met. She received the filmfare award for the best actress in the film.

But from the time spend time with Saif Ali Khan again career lost direction. Her film Tashan opposite him was box-office disaster. Her other film Golmaal Returns did moderate business but that was due to joint effort of Ajay Devgan, Tushar Kapoor and others.

In 2009 her films that are either released or about to be released include Kambakkht Ishq opposite Akshay Kumar, Three Idiots opposite Amir Khan, Mai Aur Mrs. Khanna opposite Salman Khan and Milenge Milenge. Kambakkht Ishq had been shot in Universal Studios, Hollywood and has a huge prospect.

None of Amir Khan’s films had failed in the last three years, so Kareena has a lot of hope in Three Idiots. Even Salman Khan is wanting to make a comeback with hit films through Mai and Mrs Khanna. If two of these three films become successful, Kareena can get back her number one spot which she lost in 2008 and her competitors like Priyanka Chopra gained in 2008. Critics had said several times that Kareena Kapoor has much more acting talent than Katrina Kaif, if she chooses right films and does well, she can still be in the rat race. Let us hope for the best in 2009.

The viewers of bollywood films wish happy birthday to Karishma Kapoor on 25th June, 2009. She had been probably the only descendant of the Kapoor family who did not arrive in the bollywood industry with pomp and show. Her debut was made in a small manner.

She had to struggle hard and got good roles in films like Hero No.1 opposite Govinda. In Hero No. 1 Karishma showed her good dancing skills in songs like “mai to raste se ja raha tha”. Karishma was very impressive in the film Dil To Paagal Hai opposite Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. The film showed triangular love story and strong music of Uttam Singh. Karishma gave good lips in the songs “le gai le gai”.

Karishma Kapoor ventured in parallel films like Shyam Benegal’s Zubeida. Her performance opposite Manoj Vajpayee amazed the viewers. She was equally impressive opposite Hrithik Roshan in the film Fida. She played a non-glamourous role in the film. She was the sister of Hrithik Roshan. She wanted Hrithik to return back to mainstream society. She did not show any mannerisms in the film.

At the same time Karishma Kapoor played important roles in commercially hit films. In Krishna, her performance opposite Sunil Shetty was appreciated by all the viewers. Her dance performance in the song “jhanjhariya buddhi khanak gayi” was very impressive. Similarly her performance in the song “batti na bujhao” and “hai hooku hai hukoo” opposite Sunil Shetty created sensation in bollywood.

Karishma Kapoor did well in comedy films as well. She was sublime opposite Salman Khan in the film Judwaa where Salman Khan had double role. She did even better in the film Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge opposite Salman Khan. In that film she had to balance the comedy andaz of Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher and Om Puri and she did that in style. Even her lips in the song “jane kya hua hai dekho jiya bekarar” was very impressive.

Karishma Kapoor suited Govinda’s style of acting the most and contributed a lot in comedy films opposite him including Haseena Maan Jayegi. She balanced the strong dancing skills of Govinda with her own aggressive dancing style.

She left films at a time when she learned acting. The viewers expect her to make a comeback in character roles in future.

It is an established fact that ultramodern roles never suited Diya Mirza. She had a calm, quiet, docile image and whenever roles relating to that image were given she had done great jobs.

But whenever ultramodern roles were offered to her she could not adapt herself in the respective role. She was sublime opposite Salman Khan in the film Tumko Bhula Na Payenge. The film showed the loss of memory on the part of Salman Khan.

Salman Khan was a shooter and along with his co-shooter was appointed by the home minister to shoot his rival. But after some time bullets were fired at Salman Khan and he was found in a pond in a village. The father of Arbaaz Khan found Salman Khan and told him that he was his son.

Diya Mirza stayed in the same village and was the daughter of the friend of Salman Khan’s father. She used to visit Salman Khan and persuade him to believe that nothing serious had happened to him. Salman was inclined to know the cause of the loss of his memory. Neither Diya Mirza, nor Rajpal Yadav, told him the truth.

The romantic performance of Salman Khan and Diya Mirza was well appreciated by the viewers. Both of them gave able lips in the songs “yeh bekhudi diwanagi” and “are are yeh kya hua re” sung by Sonu Nigam and others. The other part of the film was related to Salman Khan taking revenge against his rival and death of Sushmita Sen in the struggle.

Her docile image was used by Vidhu Vinod Chopra in the film Parineeta. Her performance was well appreciated along with Vidya Balan. Even her performance in the films Deewanapan and Tumsa Nahi Dekha also had feminine appeal.

Even her performance in the film Lage Raho Munnabhai in the role of the daughter of Boman Irani had docile image. She was very obedient daughter of her father but the moment she knew that her horoscope was redesigned not to let his inlaws including Kulbhushan Kharwanda know that she was manglik, she told them the truth after speaking with Sanjay Dutt (Munna Bhai). She initially wanted to commit suicide but later changed her decision after being briefed by Munna Bhai.

Even her performance in Shootout at Lokhandwala had the feminine. But her performance in the film Cash broke the image, which was not liked by the audience. Her lips in an ultramodern fashion in the song “hey chori zara nachke dikha” along with Esha Deol and Shamita Shetty was not impressive at all.

Diya Mirza has a sweet face and loving image, so should concentrate on those roles which show her feminine docile image, rather than aggressive roles of egoists which can spoil her career. The viewers are looking forward to better performances from Diya Mirza in future.

The four year relationship between Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif had ended. Katrina Kaif in recent interview had mentioned that she does not have any more relationship with Salman Khan even as a friend. Sometimes these rumours are created to add popularity in bollywood arena.

But facts and circumstances establish that the relationship had ended. Over-possessiveness of Salman Khan had been the cause of such end. Katrina Kaif found while she was shooting for the film Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani, with Ranbir Kapoor, that Salman Khan over-interfered in her affairs against her liking. Just as she never interfered in other’s affairs she disliked other’s interference in her affairs.

The relationship grew up in four five years ago and Salman Khan took the credit of introducing Katrina Kaif in Indian films. His film with Katrina Kaif, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya also bolstered the relationship. In 2008, their film Partner did fabulous business, and viewers started thinking that Katrina Kaif was going to marry Salman Khan.

Even the failure of Yuvvraaj, at the box-office did not raise eyebrows relating to Salman –Katrina relationship. Viewers appreciated their online chemistry, as all the songs composed by the team of AR Rehman, Gulzar and Subhash Ghai became super hit. Prominent songs included “tu muskura”, “shano shano”, etc.

If the losses and gains after the end of the relationship is analyzed, everyone will agree that Katrina Kaif is hardly going to lose her stardom, as she had given hits with other actors like Akshay Kumar in Namaste London, Welcome, Singh is Kinng, etc., Akshay Khanna in Race, Govinda in Partner, to name a few. She is young as has a long future ahead of her.

Salman Khan is in his 40s. He already had got a bad reputation for failing to maintain relationship due to his bad temper. Although his friendship with Asin had created news, but viewers sometimes stop favouring a hero who fail to show any stability in life.

Salman Khan had also not attained such age where he can switch on to character roles and leave the rat race relating to heroes. In that case his star-image would not had been affected at all. Last year had been a bad year for Salman Khan and if his instability with co-actors and actresses continue he has to see bad days in future.
