Raj Kumar Hirani’s film The 3 idiots will break Ghajini’s record. Amir Khan’s Ghajini did the best business in December, 2008, earning more than Rs 200 crores. The 3 idiots being released exactly one year later, on 25th December, 2009, had earned Rs 30 crores within first 3 days, so has the indication of breaking Ghajini’s record.

Amir Khan took the moto of acting in less number of films but better films like Dilip Kumar. His philosophy is working to a big extent. The type of anxiousness exhibited by Amir Khan in The 3 idiots had amazed the viewers. On the first day of engineering class when Boman Irani was showing astronaut’s pen, he asked him why they not use pencils. The astronaut’s pen used to be given to the greatest engineer cum scientist. Rajkumar Hirani, the successful director of bollywood films, had experimented with Amir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, in the film The Three Idiots. Amir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi were college friends.

The story of the film was related to Chetan Bhagat’s novel Five Point Someone, and the production was controlled by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. In the film Madhavan and Sharman Joshi recollected an old bet they were involved with. The bet was related to a wedding that they would have crashed into and a funeral which went out of control.

They searched their college friend Amir Khan who was involved in an affair with Kareena Kapoor and also was rebuked by Boman Irani. After the college days, all of a sudden, Amir Khan disappeared. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi could not trace him.

The music of the film had been composed by Shatanu Moitra who had followed up his successes in Parineeta and Lage Raho Munnabhai. The main songs which were catchy include “all izz well” sung by Sonu Nigam, Shaan and Swanand Kirkire, “behti hawa sa tha who” sung by Shaan, Shantanu Moitra, “jaan nehi denge tujhe” sung by Sonu Nigam, “give me some sunshine” sung by Suraj jagan, Sharman Joshi, to name a few.

In the film Kareena Kapoor who previously lived in US returned to India after her father had cardiac arrest. Kareena Kapoor met with Saif Ali Khan when they were in Delhi University and fell in love with one another.

Kareena got a job in US and took Saif Ali Khan to US. She helped him to work as Professor of Islam in the same University where Kareena Kapoor worked. Kareena Kapoor developed intimacy with Dia Mirza, Vivek Oberoi and Nauheed Cyrusi. While Kareena Kapoor was pregnant she heard that Om Puri and others planned to blast the flight in which Dia Mirza was flying.

Kareena Kapoor later found out that Saif Ali Khan was involved in the same terrorist activity in which Om Puri and others were involved. Saif Ali Khan kept Kareena Kapoor under house arrest and threatened her that in case she disclosed anyone about the conspiracy, her father in India would be killed. The flight exploded and everyone in the flight were killed.

Vivek Oberoi joined the terrorist group with the mission of taking revenge against Om Puri, Saif Ali Khan and others. Om Puri preponed the plan of blasting three subway stations in New York. Ultimately Saif Ali Khan sacrificed his life to save Kareena Kapoor and the child in the mother’s womb.

The music composed by Salim Sulaiman was very impressive. The song “shukran allah” sung by Sonu Nigam, Salim Merchant and Shreya Ghoshal became superhit. The other songs like “dua”, “ali maula” all were very impressive.
The critics fear one fact. Films based on terrorist activities did not do good business in the past. So obviously Kurbaan can face the heat in that respect. Otherwise the performance of Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Om Puri and Vivek Oberoi were excellent.

This year 3 of the bollywood films were released on 16th October, 2009, including Blue, Mai Aur Mrs Khanna and All the best. The directors and producers purposely released it during the period of diwali to allow the viewers to watch the film during festival time.

Although Blue and All the best got a fantastic opening, Mai Aur Mrs Khanna lagged behind. Director Prem Soni had used Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in a love story titled Mai Aur Mrs Khanna. Salman Khan married Kareena Kapoor against the wishes of his parents and settled in Melbourne, Australia. There he had a successful career of a stock-broker. The moment he lost the job, the internal differences between the couple played by Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor had forced Kareena Kapoor to stay with Sohail Khan.

Salman Khan’s friend Govinda tried to patch up the things so that the marital relationship could be restored. The film had been produced by Ronnie Screwala and Sohail Khan. Kareena Kapoor’s visa expired in Australia before she was working in a watch shop. Due to insistence from her friends she married Sohail Khan.

In the mean time Deepika Padukone also entered the scene and made the play more dramatic. Some way or the other the luck is not going in Salman Khan’s favour. Although his TV program “10 ka dum” had been extremely successful most of his films including Wanted are doing mediocre business. He has one last film this year titled New York to prove his stardom. But the film Mai Aur Mrs Khanna should be watched by viewers considering the cameos played by even guest artists like Preeti Zinta and seasoned performances from Kareena Kapoor, Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and others.

Golmaal Returns was made with almost the same team. Ajay Devgan, Tushar Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Celina Jaitley did a better job in the film. Kareena Kapoor was shown as the wife of Ajay Devgan who suspected her husband. She thought he had affairs with other persons.

One night Ajay Devgan spend with Celina Jaitley and to hide the fact he said he spend his time with Anthony Gonzalves. Kareena Kapoor wrote a letter to Anthony Gonzalves and brought another person and from that moment the drama started. On the other hand a colleague in Ajay Devgan’s office was killed and Ajay Devgan was suspected for the murder.

The investigation was carried out by Arshad Warsi and he made errors after errors and messed up with everything. Arshad Warsi was also having an affair with Amrita Arora, who was playing the role of the sister of Ajay Devgan.

Tushar Kapoor was probably at his best. He was shown as a dumb person who expressed himself by making peculiar sounds and funny gestures. But 2009, she returned back in style with the film Kamakht Ishq with Akshay Kumar. The viewers agree if Kareena Kapoor has acting background, Katrina Kaif has her age in her favour, so in the long run, Katrina Kaif has the potentiality to be the winner. The war of the two beauty queens will continue as Kareena has Mr. and Mrs. Khanna opposite Salman Khan to be released this year, while Katrina Kaif has Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani opposite Ranbir Kapoor to be released this year. The other characteristic which is common between Katrina and Kareena is their affair with Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan. Kambaqht Ishq had been released a week ago. As the film had both Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor as the lead performers lot of anxiousness was there in the minds of the viewers of the film. Besides, the films that had done best business in the last few years had all been related to comedy subject matter. So as this film was also related to comedy whether the subject was acceptable to the viewers was the main question.

Firstly the story was full of fiction. There was hardly any reality embedded in them. The film had shown that Kareena Kapoor, a super-model cum surgeon operated injured stuntman Akshay Kumar and left her heart-shaped watch, with an hourly alarm that blared ‘mangalam –mangalam,’ in his intestines. The reason of Kareena Kapoor’s hatred towards Akshay Kumar was even more hilarious. It was just because he was man. In fact Kareena Kapoor hated all men and her motive of doing the ridiculous act was to take revenge against Akshay Kumar.

Kareena wanted to get pendant back. So she lured Akshay Kumar, jabbed an injection and hurriedly cut his body to get it back. The sequences with Denise Richards and Sylvestor Stallone were not that impressive. Jafed Jaffery and Boman Irani did not have much to do. In fact instead of the comedy element having predominance Kareena hatred towards all men and treating them like dogs got importance.

The film still has hope considering the committed fan-base of both Kareena and Akshay Kumar. In respect of Kareena even if the film does not click, she has other films to follow this year like Mr and Mrs Khanna. Akshay Kumar badly requires a hit film after the disaster of Chandni Chowk to China and 8*10 Tasveer. If the film ends up being hit, the director and producer will be happy enough. Let us hope for the best.

Some of the actresses of bollywood films who does not have dominating influence like Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif remain dependant on the success of the films for their own growth. Actresses like Neha Dhupia fall in that category. Although she had acted in many hit films and had remained the central character in hit films, neither had she received the recognition that she deserved nor the media coverage that she expected.

She gave a spirited performance in the film Julie. She was sublime in the film Siskiya. In Kya Cool Hai Hum, she was more composed than Ritesh Dehmukh. She had an affair with him, and yet Ritesh never knew the face of the girl he loved. While the affair of Tushar Kapoor and Isha Koppikar blossomed with comedy sequences, Neha Dhupia’s affair was of silent nature.

In Chup Chup Ke, she played a more significant role than Kareena Kapoor. She could speak and persuaded Shahid Kapoor to call the person who was supposed to marry Kareena to break the engagement. Nobody in the house knew that Shahid Kapoor could speak excepting Neha. But she communicated before Neha and Kareena as a friend and solved their family problems in style. When the film became successful the entire credit was given to Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and the character actors like Om Puri, Paresh Rawal.

The same thing happened in the film Shootout at Lokhandwala. Sanjay Dutt and Vivek Oberoi got the focus. Some of the viewers even forgot that Neha Dhupia acted in that film. Singh is Kinng is another film that saw composed performance of Neha Dhupia, inspite of Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar getting the entire attention of the director and the producer. Neha also showed some action stunts in the film as she was the member of gang in Australia which was taken over by Akshay Kumar after her leader fell ill.

2009 is another year where Neha Dhupia has lot of expectations. May be if she continues the standard of performance that she previously had given or excels in her roles, she may get late recognition. Her upcoming films include Cellphone, Hot (a film where she had given bold performance) and Kuch Love Kuch Drama. Besides she has an item number in the film Kabhi Pyar Na Karna.

The only success at that time was the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham opposite Hrithik Roshan. Her performance in the role of princess Kaurwaki in the film Ashoka opposite Shahrukh Khan got severely criticized and her popularity decreased at that time.

Even her films Mai Prem Ki Diwani Hoon or Mujhse Dosti Karoge could not change her fortunes. At that period her performance in an off-beat role in the film Chameli brought her appreciation from the critics. She played the role of a prostitude in Sudhir Misra’s realistic film. She got the Filmfare Special award for her performance in the film Chameli. She did a series of good films at that including Govind Nihalini’s Dev. She opposite Fardeen Khan, Big B and Om Puri and brought out frustration in a riot oriented locality. She played the role of muslim girl Ayaliya having similarity with Zahira Sheikh, the main witness in Vadodara’s Best Bakery Case. She also acted in an unconventional role in the film Omkara opposite Ajay Devgan.
